Medical repatriation with a private ambulance
You might wonder why a private ambulance is necessary to repatriate a loved one. The reason is quite simple. Often the travel insurance refuses to cover the costs of repatriation. For instance because the level of cover might not be enough to include the type of repatriation required. Also, the insurance company may argue that it is medically unsafe to repatriate the patient back home with a road ambulance. Or they can even state that there is no medical necessity, and the patient can receive further treatment in the foreign hospital.
However, healthcare standards and quality can vary significantly in foreign countries. When your insurance company is unwilling to cooperate, it is possible to engage a private ambulance service privately. EMS Air Ambulance & Medical Repatriation works independently from insurance companies. If your insurer is not making any arrangements to repatriate your loved one, please contact the medical coordinators of EMS Air Ambulance & Medical Repatriation.
State-of-the-art road ambulances
EMS Air Ambulance & Medical Repatriation only uses the most modern road ambulances. These state-of-the-art vehicles are mobile emergency rooms that are designed for long-distance travel. Every private ambulance in our fleet is Intensive Care Unit (ICU) equipped, and has a full complement of medication and modern equipment on board. This includes a ventilator, vacuum mattresses and automatic gearboxes. Our road ambulances are one of the most safest, convenient and comfortable ways to travel. Depending on the situation and needs, it might be possible to complete the entire repatriation journey by private ambulance. Thanks to our medical professionals and the modern equipment, the patient will even stay comfortable during long journeys.

The stretcher in the private ambulance can be put in both a flat or upright position. It is possible to switch positions during the journey, increasing the level of comfort for the patient. When the patient is mobile enough, our road ambulance can always stop for comfort breaks during which they will be able to use the lavatory.
