Customer Experience: Complex Air Ambulance Mission from Lithuania to Boston, USA
Every international medical repatriation presents its own unique challenges. Recently, our team completed a highly complex air ambulance mission, transporting two patients from Vilnius, Lithuania, to Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
The journey covered approximately 6,390 kilometres and required more than nine hours of flight time, during which both patients required continuous critical care.
The Challenge
Both patients required intensive medical supervision throughout the flight.
One patient had suffered an intracranial haemorrhage following a serious road traffic accident, while the second patient was recovering from a stroke and had severely limited mobility, requiring transport on a stretcher.
Given the complexity of both medical conditions and the long flight distance, commercial travel was not an option. A dedicated air ambulance equipped as a flying intensive care unit was required.
